visit

I am the owner of a conifer and japanese maple nursery in Frederick County, MD. My wife and I would love to come and visit you gardens, but the spring and fall season absolutely do not allow me to be away from my business. Is there any other time, say mid-summer, when we could visit?

Website tour of the gardens

Having lived in Columbus for the first 21 years of my life,I have fond memories of the area.My love of life has always been gardening and working with my hands in the earth. To see what you have accomplished is absolutely unbelievable and must give you so much satisfaction and enjoyment in absorbing the beauty that surrounds you.Living in Miramar Beach ,Fl we are very limited in growing the type of plants and trees of the North. But we do have our camellias and azaleas and the ability to have something flowering during 12 months of the year.I am headed north through Columbus in mid August and very sorry to have missed the opportunity to wander through your beautiful gardens.I spent an hour on the website taking a tour of each of the gardens thoroughly enjoying every moment and every view to be seen.Thank you for sharing the results of your vision accomplished. Thank you!

6/7/12 was my first visit to Schnormeier Gardens, and I was totally awed by the scope and beauty of this magnificent undertaking by two people! To be able to stroll the grounds and take it all in was a real gift, and I thank Ann and Ted for making such a gift to the rest of us. I will be sharing the DVD with friends who can't manage the hills (thank heavens I still can). Thank you, Ann and Ted, for your incredible way of making the world a better place for all of us!

What a wonderful treat....

I feel very blessed to have the opportunity to visit the gardens. My friend and I came today and just truly enjoyed the self guided tour. I left very relaxed and peaceful. Thank you for opening your piece of heavan to the world.

Thank you for opening your

Thank you for opening your gardens so that we could all enjoy! My friend and I came for the first time this year. It is absolutely beautiful! We have decided that this will be an annual day for us and hope to invite some of our other friends to join next year......Thank you again for your kindness!

Thank You!

Thank you so much for opening your lovely garden to us today. Our family of four spent three hours traversing your property. The children loved looking for the animals on the seek and find list through the woodland trail. My husband and I enjoyed the entire grounds and were particularly touched by a couple of the statues and sculptures. My favorites were 1) the statue of the girl dipping her hair into the water at the head of the Woodland Trail, and the sculpture, "Affirmation of Rejection". Very touching.

It was an absolutely lovely day. We will be back next year!!

Gardens - 6.6.2012

We spent about 3 hours at your gardens and were totally thrilled. The grounds are so beautifully kept and loved seeing the special sculptures and the flowers. Just amazing, and thank you for sharing it with us.

Beautiful!

My wife and I visited for the first time last year and to say we enjoyed the beauty and serenity of the gardens would be a gross understatement.
we plan on making this a yearly event and this year hopefully we will be visiting with some of our church friends.
Thank you so much for sharing the beauty with so many people!
see you in June!!

Gardens, book, dvd and award

A SUPERB investment to visit your gardens and to enjoy at home the lovely book and dvd. The book was well worth the wait! Kudos for winning the IPPY! Not a bit surprising. Congrats to Ted & Ann Schnormeier, Dr. Scot E. Long (author) and Ian Moss (illustrator).

Lucky us!

Wedding Venue?

I am recently engaged and looking for a venue for my June 9, 2012 wedding. Do you rent out areas of the garden for weddings/receptions? I noticed your open house would be going on during this time, but I am still interested.

Greetings Anonymous!

No, we don't do weddings. Matter of fact we only do 'garden centered' events where the garden is what people come to see and enjoy!

Hi Ann & Ted. I just stopped by the website for some "soul food "
It's great to see everything thriving, and remembering what a wonderful experience it was, and is!
I hope to stop in person again some day when I'm back in Ohio.
Looking forward to seeing you again.

Open house this past week

Thank you for allowing strangers to spend time absorbing the sights, sounds, and feel of Schnormeier Gardens. Your graciousness is profound. My plan for next year is to bring a sketchbook and watercolors.

Gardens!

The pictures are so lovely, what a spectacular place to celebrate the seasons. Thank you for showing the before and after photos.

many thanks

Thank you so much for so generously sharing your gardens with the public. We spent more than 4 hours there on Friday, just wandering, discovering and delighting. I have to say too, how impressed I was that we weren't handed a list of rules when we showed up with our kids. The Schnormeiers are truly visionary, generous souls.

My husband and I just spent

My husband and I just spent the morning at Schnormeier Gardens, we are in awe of what you have accomplished! Your gardens brought back memories of my husband's grandmother, Alta Smith,of Bellville, Ohio. She was an accomplished gardener and loved the Asian feel in her gardens. Thank you for a lovely morning!

Touring the gardens

My wife and I throughly enjoyed touring the gardens on Wednesday. We are in awe of the vision and scope of the entire 75 acres! We plan to return every year to spend a few hours absorbing the serene atmosphere.

sorry must of had old

sorry must of had old website, when i left this site i was taken to your new site with all the pertinent info. Looking forward to visiting. ;0)

how can we find out about

how can we find out about dates/times for your open house?

tour

I just heard about your beautiful gardens. I would like to know when your tour dates are for 2011-2012.

contact information, pricing

Just read about your amazing gardens. We have a Senior's group that would be very interested in visiting in the future. Unfortunately, we did not find a contact number to set up a date/time to visit, nor the cost. If you could provide that in (and maybe add it to your brochure) it would be greatly appreciated. Also, does the size of the group matter? As a family, we'd also like to visit this summer.
Thank you.

Garden Tour Schedule

Just recently learned of Schnormeier Gardens. Have lived in Loudonville area all my life and my family has been in a greenhouse/nursery business for 68 years. After visiting web site can not believe that I have never heard of Schnormeier Gardens until recently. The problem being, that since we are in the greenhouse business, it is impossible to get away during your open house week. Wondering if there is any other way or time that a tour of the gardens would be possible?

Beautiful

Mr. & Mrs. Schnormeier,

I don’t know if you remember me, but I was at your home back in the mid 90’s. At the time most of the space was open (it was beautiful then) and I believe that you had just recently built the bridge; what a wonderful transformation. I just read the article in “Heart of Ohio” and am excited to bring my family to your place during your open house. Years ago I had tried to explain the beauty of the place to my wife; I thank you for opening your home to us in June and am really looking forward to showing my family the beauty that I so poorly attempted to describe.

Thank You,

Bret Gandee

Gardens are Beautiful

The information to your website was passed along to me by some former Hubbard classmates, and we have all enjoyed seeing the pictures. Hopefully, we can enjoy the beautiful gardens in person some day. Thank you for sharing this wonderful project.

my best friend

my best friend! how are you today?

our visiit

We came to visit some of our family who live on the grounds and were treated to a tour. What a treat! We really enjoyed our very brief time at your wonderful property. Thank you for your dedication to the gardens and your passion for art and beauty.

Fascinating gardens

We learned of your beautiful gardens from an associate of Susan's at her place of employment - Galion Community Hospital. We visited your terrific and thorough website and were amazed by the unbelievable beauty of your gardens. An enormous undertaking which we are sure was truly a labor of love and it was quite successful as was evident in the beautiful photos. How very generous of you both to share this. We will definitely make plans to be at the open house next year, God willing.

June 2011 weekend

We had a wonderful time visiting your gardens while visiting family in Knox County. I assume the dates for 2011 will be June 11 and 12. Could you confirm? Thanks!

Glad you enjoyed your visit

Glad you enjoyed your visit to our gardens! DON'T ASSUME ANYTHING! We have not yet determined our open dates for 2011. They will be posted on our web site by approximately April 1 each year. Check the web site for details after that date.

Dear Mr. and Mrs.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Schnormeier,
What a magnificent obsession. Your gardens are absolutely beautiful and such a wonderful gift to share with others. Being very close to to you in Utica we cannot wait to drive by in the fall and enjoy the the maple trees in all of their fall beauty. Thank you for sharing the soul of your garden with us. Garden in Winter

Ted & Ann:

We also believe your garden is very attactive after snowfalls. Could you please put some pictures on your website for winter? It's too bad we won't have the chance to visit the garden after snow, but pictures, please?

Actually, if you view the

Actually, if you view the entire site you will find a considerable number of winter pictures. Also, our book is available for purchase now (again, on our website) and has a goodly number of winter pictures as well.

Ted Schnormeier

Thank you for sharing

We are Asian and just visited your garden last Saturday. You garden are absolutely beautiful. Compare to other "asian gardens" we visited before arround here, yours has not only the asian elements, but also the "asian spirit". Wonderful! Thank you again for sharing with us. BTW, we also like the 50th anniversary statue in the garden. Best Wishes!

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed yourselves. When we receive favorable comments from Asian folks then we know we have been successful in achieving the effect we were hoping for!

Ted Schnormeier

Awesome

Thank you for opening your beautiful gardens this past weekend. Regardless of the few raindrops, I enjoyed the peace & serenity they offered. Thank you, too, for allowing my friend and I to borrow space in your garage to keep our bikes dry.

You are most welcome. Glad

Sorry you missed our open

Sorry you missed our open house this year. We do not have a 'notification list' and therefore we suggest you visit our website in the spring where the dates are always posted. Also, there is a significant amount of PR in newspapers, magazines, TV, etc. and you can always email me is all else fails!

this weekend

Good morning, I am amem ber of Westbridge Camera Club, and I am planning on coming this weekend, but I can't find an address, or directions how to get there. Would you be so kind as to leave an address, or e mail it to me? Thank you very much. Gary Cooper

Gary, I don't have you email

Gary, I don't have you email address so the only way I can respond to you is on the Guest Book.

For address, directions and map, go to our web site (schnormeiergardens.org) and click on the 'bulletin board' tab and scroll to the bottom of that page. Everything you need is there.

We look forward to your visit.

Breath Taking

O WOW!!! So Beautiful!!! I came across a 2 page article about the Gardens and WOW!! I went to the website and sat in my office with this look of AWE!! I had to share the site with my co workers..
I am wondering if there is a cost to visit the Gardens other then on the Free Open House on June 12th and 13th?
I sooooo want to visit the Gardens!!!

Thanks for the great review!

Thanks for the great review! Sorry to have taken you and your co-workers away from your work!!!
There are no charges to visit the gardens - all free! Also, this is the only weekend we are open to the public in 2010. As you can see on the web site, we are not a public garden - just a residential landscape job on steroids!!

Hope you can make it up this weekend,

Ted Schnormeier

Open House

Your website is absolutely fantastic. I can't wait to see your gardens next weekend (and thank you in advance for sharing them). Weather permitting, my husband and I will be riding our motorscooters. Will I encounter any unpaved roads? (I like to be forewarned.) Also, do you have any favorite non-chain mom-&-pop restaurant recommendations in the area? Thanks!

Actually, all of the roads

Actually, all of the roads around here are 'scooter friendly'! (I have two - a 1985 Honda Elite with 1000 miles, a 1962 Cushman that has been 100% restored and a 1947 Indian Chief - 100% original and like new with 29,000 miles) I just 'retired' them all last winter as I just turned 75 and now prefer the golf carts!

Knox county is a 'culinary wasteland' but you might try the Village Inn or the Kenyon Inn in Gambier.

Look forward to seeing you on your scooters!

Lithopolis Garden Club

My name is Anna Parks. I am the Vice President of the Lithopolis Garden Club. I saw an article in the Dispatch. I was hoping to plan a visit next year, maybe in June, for our garden club. It is truly amazing what you have accomplished. I can't wait to visit!!
